New at Zip Records - Ross Curry

A Breakthrough for Zip Records

They don't make 'em like this anymore.  

Ross Curry is a decorated veteran of the rock scene in Holland and when the cat got out of the bag about a new album in the works.....Zip Records made a return of its own.  A return to the old days of the label; thirst, Dorian Gray, Xi, Zoodrive, Red Letter Day, Killing for Culture, The Torpedos and other European and UK bands were the staples from 1999-2005. These were bands that believed the guitar was meant to be one of the stars of the show. 

Ross Curry is best known for his leadership in Amsterdams' "Spo Dee O De"  and he has recently evolved even further into one of the masters of melodic guitar rock.

The second single from the upcoming Ross Curry album is "Wake Up Dead" (released on 5 June 2020) and it was immediately added to the popular Spotify Indie XL Playlist. The full length album will hit the streets in a special vinyl edition in October.  Entitled " Blind Samson Eye", the shock of hearing an album with actual memorable hits will soon be  yours to endure. 

Zip Records - Waiting for the Vox Scene

It has been anything but business as usual at Zip Records (and the same for most record labels).  Our Amsterdam based operations have been compromised and slowed - speaking for myself, the uncertainty of how music will look after this pandemic has taken an edge off my energy.

The planned spring and summer tours of Alain Clark, Colin Blunstone (The Zombies), Snowapple, Los Outsaiders, Lois Lane (Monique Klemann), Ross Curry, Rogers & Butler, Wouter Planteijdt,   Montis, Goudsmit & Directie have all been cancelled.  

Rather than focus on what could have been.....it is more satisfying to note what is and what is coming.  

All of the active artists on the label have kept up their activities during the last few months.  Whether popular live casts (Alain Clark, Monique Klemann, Snowapple, among others....) or other creative pursuits (The Virtues, Rogers & Butler, Ross Curry) there remain ways to stay connected with the incredible artists represented by Zip Records. 

There are new singles in May/June 2020 by Ross Curry, Monique Klemann, Snowapple, Los Outsaiders, and Wouter Planteijdt and Laura Fygi and Coco Zhao.  New albums will be out in June/July by Ross Curry and the New York/Philly duo Rogers & Butler. 

Independent record label Zip Records remains under the same cloud as the rest of the world but watch out.......thrilling, stimulating and lovely music from the world's top tier of talent continues.  There are a trickle of new releases now, but the dam is gonna break before too long.

PIanoduo amacord - magical garden / out now!

Amsterdam's pianoduo Amacord  released their debut album "Magical Garden" with an astounding concert at the famed Concertgebouw on 17 January.  The album has been named ALBUM OF THE WEEK by Classicnl.  It has romance, sweetness and beauty written all over it.

Double Barrel Action!

We are celebrating Black Friday with TWO Zip Records releases. A trio “Montis, Goudsmit & Directie” and a septet “Delicious Monsters” with the common denominator of danceable grooves and appetizing beats. Jazz, rock, Afro/beat and on top of all that - fun stuff to listen to!

New single Los outsaiders

Peru’s Los Outsaiders are doing it! The 1st single from their upcoming album “Éramos Dos En Drogas” (We Two Were on Drugs) was provided to their rabid Latin American fans on 10.26 and is available in the US and Europe today! They open for The Strokes and Slipknot on 11.23 at Lima’s football stadium.
