What is it about country-pop that seems to be the genre of choice among the “super groups” assembled over the years? From The Flying Burrito Brothers to the likes of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, now comes Little Red Snapper. Composed of four Stockholm veterans from a variety of Swedish bands, Little Red Snapper came together in the fall of 2006 through a shared obsession with a pop sound filtered through a dose of Americana.
Brothers Torben and John Freytag are closely associated with Zip Records through their long standing band Dorian Gray (1995 – 2006). Two successful albums and numerous singles were released by Zip Records in Sweden, the U.S. and Japan. Dorian Gray also embarked on several international tours. Fredrik Mattson is best known for his recordings for EMI with his band Pony and more recently, KFM. Drummer Magnus Fagernas kept the beat for Atomic Swing and was a member of one of the foremost cult bands in Swedish music history – Dead Scouts.
Little Red Snapper features three lead singers and their gorgeous sounding live performances are aptly captured on the bands’ new album “Morning Light”. Released in Sweden in the fall of 2008, “Morning Light” pulls out all the stops with production by none other than Jari Haapalainen (Camera Obscura, Ed Harcourt, The Concretes). Sweden’s Music press has lauded “Morning Light” and Zip Records will be launching a US press and radio campaign in early 2009 to continue such momentum
